Lauritzen Gardens is a beautiful series of gardens with numerous flowers and other plants.  For a reasonable price you can wander the grounds and there are often traveling exhibits.  For this trip the gardens had a search for the gnomes game for the kids and Melinda.  It was entertaining for them to search for gnomes while I worked on my photography.
Here is one of the gnomes hiding on a tree.
Adjacent to the gardens is Kenefick Park.  Anyone who has driven across the I-80 bridge will notice that there are two trains on the corner overlookinig the bridge over the Missouri.  Here are a few shots of the trains and the interstate overlook.

Notice in the following picture the trees submerged in the water.  This was due to the Missouri being at a flood stage.
The park and gardens are located at 100 Bancroft street north of the 13th street exit.
